Review: James Dunne – Black Train

James Dunne is quickly becoming one of my favourite UK country artists.

The release of ‘Duty’ late last year introduced us to the talented former soldier whose authentic storytelling and raw delivery made him an instant fan favourite on the scene. ‘Black Train’ is the next single off the highly anticipated EP Dunne has been working on. Leaning more towards the outlaw country sub-genre, Dunne has forged his own niche within a niche here in the UK.

His gritty vocals coupled with a simple, classic acoustic guitar based production help to shine the spotlight on his lyricism. His songwriting is bold and edgy and it’s no wonder that last year he was named HMV’s ‘Artist to Watch’.

He is one of the most promising artists on the UK scene and his EP is surely going to bring in the accolades that will certify that status.
