Former ‘The Voice’ contestant and emerging country music star, Jay Allen, is known not only for his heartfelt melodies, but also for his unwavering dedication to raising awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. With a feature performance at Party on the Porth in Wales, on behalf of Cymryd Rhan charity, and a first London headline show at The Pheasantry, Allen is set for a memorable journey to the United Kingdom this August.
“Blank Stares”, Allen’s 2018 hit single, written as a powerful tribute to his mother who battled early-onset Alzheimer’s disease, became a viral sensation, touching the hearts of worldwide audiences, and propelled him into the national spotlight. With almost 2 million streams on Spotify alone, this track continues to bring together communities of caregivers the world over.
Growing up near Cedar Falls, Iowa, Allen’s deep passion for music was influenced by his father’s rock concerts and his mother’s heartfelt country tunes during long car rides. Since then, he has risen to prominence in the music industry, signing a publishing deal in 2014 and securing an artist deal with SONY/ATV two years later after moving to Nashville in 2013. In a pivotal moment for his career, Allen appeared on Season 22 of The Voice with his exceptional talent, delivering a captivating rendition of Cody Johnson’s “‘Til You Can’t,” earning chair turns from both Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, deciding upon Gwen Stefani as his coach of choice. Now a ONErpm artist, his most recent release, “Jello Shot”, has been hugely well received, earning almost 40,000 streams on Spotify alone, in just three weeks since its mid-June release.
His commitment to raising awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association has been unwavering, and he actively participates in various international events, including the esteemed Rita Hayworth Gala. Recognizing his dedication and advocacy work, Jay Allen has received numerous accolades, including The Caregiver Award from the National Alzheimer’s Association. His impact on the industry was further acknowledged when he was honoured with the Favourite Competition Contestant award at the 2022 Country Now Awards and featured as one of Music Mayhem Magazine’s “2023 Artists to Watch.”
Adding to his remarkable achievements, Jay Allen recently received a special invitation to the White House to participate in an event supporting the First Lady’s Joining Forces initiative. This prestigious invitation showcases the impact and reach of Allen’s music, as well as his commitment to honouring his mother’s memory and creating a lasting legacy.
Currently on tour in the US, Allen’s fans and country music enthusiasts across the UK are awaiting his arrival with eager anticipation. With an authentically country rock sound, heartfelt storytelling and an undeniable and confident stage presence, he is set to make his mark on this new audience in person for the first time. Through collaborations with charities such as Cymryd Rhan, he will also be lending his support to UK based families in need, and raising international awareness of Alzheimer’s disease. With much more music planned for release over the coming months, 2023 is a massive year for Allen. Watch this space for more news!
