Lainey Wilson’s ‘Whirlwind’ album launches
Lainey Wilson, the Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum artist, has released her highly anticipated new album, ‘Whirlwind’.
‘Whirlwind’ has been produced by the Grammy Award-winning Jay Joyce, known for his work with Miranda Lambert and Eric Church. The album’s 14 tracks showcase Wilson’s signature blend of storytelling and country flair. The current single, ‘Hang Tight Honey’, has already enjoyed significant success, celebrating three consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Country Radio chart and approaching the top 10 on the US Country Airplay chart.
Speaking about the album, Wilson said, “‘Whirlwind’ is kind of the Western sister of ‘Bell Bottom Country’. Since that album, I have gotten to experience so many new things and meet folks from different walks of life. Because of that, I’ve become a better songwriter, and I have more understanding. I feel like I’ve truly stepped into what it is that I’m called to be doing. Ironically, I found my path within all the craziness—and that’s the whirlwind.”
To celebrate the album’s release, a series of listening parties will be held across the UK this weekend. Events are set to take place at venues including Coyote Ugly and Caliendo’s Gelato, with full details available on Wilson’s official website.
‘Whirlwind’ adds to an already remarkable year for Wilson, who was recently inducted into the Grand Ole Opry and took home Best Country Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Her trophy cabinet has also expanded with three awards at the 59th annual ACM Awards and five awards at the 57th annual CMA Awards, where she was named Entertainer of the Year at both events. Earlier this week, she received two accolades at the ACM Honors: the prestigious Triple Crown Award and the Milestone Award, recognising her unprecedented success in country music.
Originally hailing from Baskin, Louisiana, and now based in Nashville, Wilson has been on a meteoric rise since her 2016 debut. Her previous album, ‘Bell Bottom Country’, released in 2022, received widespread acclaim, with Variety calling it “one of the more irresistible collections to come out of the genre in some time” and The Wall Street Journal noting, “Lainey Wilson’s rock-tinged country songs are taking Nashville—and beyond—by storm.” A prolific songwriter, Wilson has penned seven number one singles at country radio and written for notable artists including Post Malone, Dolly Parton, Luke Combs, and Ashley McBryde. Her versatility extends to acting, with a debut role in season five of the hit series Yellowstone.
