Kerri Watt announces new music and C2C appearance

Following a sold-out show at the iconic Listening Room in Nashville, Glaswegian  singer-songwriter Kerri Watt returns with new country-imbued single ‘Predictable’. Building on the Americana “vintage, Quentin Tarantino-style” (Sunday Times) landscape of her acclaimed 2021 debut album Neptune’s Daughter, ‘Predictable’ sees Kerri fully embrace country music, ahead of a string of highly-anticipated performances at C2C Festival in March.

Produced by her Nashville-based brother and collaborator Fraser Watt, ‘Predictable’ is the product of Kerri’s immersion into the city’s historic music scenes. Through performances in its iconic, intimate venues to writing sessions with local artists, the rich cultural tapestry of the country music capital takes an undeniable presence on the track, conjuring a deeply warm atmosphere rich in catchy hooks and a distinctively western guitar.

With Kerri’s signature soaring vocals and heartfelt meditations on love, ‘Predictable’ is a song about shunning naive expectations that relationships must be dramatic and chaotic to thrive, and instead exists as an ode to a safe, calm and predictable romance that comes alive at night. “It’s a driving, moody country number inspired by my long term relationship,” Kerri says. “Having craved the wild uncertainty of life and love in my early 20s, I now love the ‘predictability’ of knowing exactly who I’m coming home to each day and just what makes each of us happy. However… At night when the lights go down and it’s just the two of us alone, I love to reconnect with that wild side.”

Over the past couple of years, Kerri’s life as an artist changed dramatically when she became a mother. With touring off the table for a while, Kerri began writing for the big screen and is currently developing an original musical animation with Timeless Films. In 2023, Kerri also became an official ‘Song Suffragette’ in Nashville – a collective that supports and champions female songwriters. (Fellow suffragettes include Kelsea Ballerini & Lainey Wilson.) Kerri went on to host a rare Song Suffragettes show in London at The Camden Club last summer.

Kerri creates songs that captivate and inspire in their wise, vulnerable interpretations of the world around her – partly indebted to her songwriting inspirations Sheryl Crow and Van Morrison. Though hailing from Glasgow, she spent time in the States as a teenager, where exposure to American music heavily informed her sonic palette. There, she was introduced to a world of blues, gospel, country and folk that felt worlds away from her Scottish roots. This scrapbook of musical influences permeates her diaristic approach to songwriting – now furthered with a whole-hearted embrace of country.

Her first single of 2024, ‘Predictable’, kicks off what’s sure to be an inspiring year of new music, live performances and a spattering of exciting film and theatre projects for Kerri. On 8th and 9th March she’ll take to the stage at C2C, Europe’s biggest country music festival, for three highly-anticipated performances. Then, in the summer, she joins the Over The Hill Festival lineup as a headline act on 24th August.
