Review

The song Cloud 9 was released ahead of Moroney’s third studio album which is due to be released on Friday, February 20. It captures the dizzying highs of infatuation while hinting at the fragility beneath it. The song leans into dreamy imagery, with references to floating feelings and sky-high emotions that suggest love can feel almost untouchable. Yet beneath the glossy surface, Moroney threads subtle doubt through her lyrics, questioning whether the euphoria can last. Her airy yet emotionally sharp vocals elevate the chorus, where the metaphor of “cloud nine” becomes both escape and illusion. The track balances sweetness with self-awareness, showcasing Moroney’s talent for pairing romantic optimism with grounded realism.
