The Gympie Music Muster is one of Australia’s longest established country music festivals, bringing thousands of music fans together in the surroundings of Amamoor Creek State Forest in Queensland. With a history stretching back more than four decades, the Muster combines live performances with camping, community spirit and the natural setting of the Australian bush.
Country music sits at the heart of the event, but its programme extends across a variety of genres, including blues, folk, rock, heritage and acoustic music. Performances take place across multiple stages, ranging from larger shows to intimate songwriter sessions.
Music and mateship in the Australian bush
Camping forms an important part of the Gympie Music Muster experience, helping create the community atmosphere that organisers describe as “Muster Magic”. Visitors can choose from general camping options or stay at Banjo’s Tent Motel, while caravans and tents are also part of the wider festival experience.
Beyond the performances, visitors can explore the campgrounds and distinctive live music venues while meeting fellow festivalgoers. The combination of music, friendships, traditions and its forest location has helped establish the Muster as a celebration of Australian live music, mateship and community.
