Windy City Smokeout brings together country music and authentic American barbecue for one of Chicago’s biggest summer festivals. Held outside the United Center, the event combines performances from leading touring country artists with food prepared by pitmasters from across the United States.
Established in 2013, Windy City Smokeout has developed into a fixture of Chicago’s summer events calendar. Its combination of live country music and barbecue gives the festival a distinctive identity, placing food culture alongside the performances rather than treating it simply as an addition to the music programme.
Country music meets American barbecue
The festival celebrates two traditions closely associated with American culture, offering visitors the opportunity to experience country music while sampling barbecue prepared by specialists from around the country. Images featured by the festival showcase dishes including ribs, smoked sausage, chicken, pork sandwiches and barbecue sliders, reflecting the food focused character of the event.
Windy City Smokeout’s reputation has also received recognition from the country music industry. The event is a two time winner of the Academy of Country Music’s Festival of the Year award.
