John Morgan

Country singer and songwriter John Morgan has reached another career milestone as his latest single, “Kid Myself”, climbs to number one on both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase country radio charts.

The achievement marks Morgan’s seventh number one as a songwriter and his second as a recording artist. It is also his first chart topping single as a solo performer, following the success of “Friends Like That”, his collaboration with Jason Aldean.

Released through Broken Bow Records, “Kid Myself” features on Morgan’s debut album, “Carolina Blue”, and explores the regret of ending a relationship before recognising what has been lost.

“Kid Myself” reaches number one at country radio

Written by Morgan alongside Tyler Hubbard and Jordan Schmidt, “Kid Myself” was produced by Morgan and Brent Anderson.

The song examines the emotional consequences of walking away from a relationship, reflecting on the difficult realisation that a decision made in the past may have been a mistake.

Its themes of regret, reflection and emotional maturity have helped establish the track as another significant release in Morgan’s developing career as a solo artist.

Speaking about the achievement, Morgan said: “Watching this song climb the charts has been very special. It’s hard to do it once and even harder to follow up back to back.”

“I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone for all the support over the last year to help get us here. ‘Kid Myself’ came off my debut album, Carolina Blue, and I’m proud to have written something that resonated with so many people around the country!”

John Morgan builds on “Friends Like That” success

The new number one follows Morgan’s breakthrough as a recording artist with “Friends Like That”, featuring Jason Aldean.

That collaboration became Morgan’s first number one as an artist and his fourth as a songwriter, helping introduce his music to a wider country audience after several years working behind the scenes in Nashville.

With “Kid Myself” now reaching the top of the charts, Morgan has secured consecutive number one singles as a recording artist.

Both tracks feature on his debut album, “Carolina Blue”, which combines his North Carolina roots with contemporary country songwriting and stories drawn from everyday experiences.

From Nashville songwriter to country recording artist

Before establishing himself as a solo performer, Morgan developed a reputation as one of Nashville’s successful country songwriters.

The North Carolina native has written 16 songs for Jason Aldean, including several of the singer’s number one hits.

Among those are “How Far Does A Goodbye Go”, “Trouble With A Heartbreak”, “Whiskey Drink”, “Don’t Tell On Me” and the Grammy nominated collaboration with Carrie Underwood, “If I Didn’t Love You”.

His songwriting credits also extend to recordings by Jon Pardi, Dustin Lynch and Thomas Rhett.

Morgan’s achievements as a writer have earned him the CMA Triple Play Award, recognising his success in delivering multiple chart topping songs.

His transition into recording his own material has allowed audiences to hear his songwriting through his own voice, building on the reputation he established working with other artists.

“Carolina Blue” showcases Morgan’s country roots

Morgan’s debut album, “Carolina Blue”, brings together the storytelling approach that has defined his Nashville songwriting career with influences drawn from his upbringing in North Carolina.

The project includes both “Friends Like That” and “Kid Myself”, providing the foundation for his growing success at country radio.

His music reflects a combination of contemporary country influences, working class experiences and relationship focused songwriting.

The album also represents an important development in Morgan’s career, moving him from writing hits for established performers to achieving chart success under his own name.

John Morgan continues touring with Brantley Gilbert

Alongside his recording success, Morgan has continued building his live performance career.

He is currently appearing on Brantley Gilbert’s Real American Tour, where audiences can hear “Kid Myself” and “Friends Like That” alongside newer releases including “Once in a Mile” and “Cry Baby”.

Morgan has previously performed at the Grand Ole Opry and toured with several established country artists, including Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Riley Green and ERNEST.

These appearances have provided opportunities to introduce his solo material to audiences already familiar with songs he has written for other performers.
