Luke Grimes will release his highly anticipated new album, Redbird, on April 3 via Range Music/MCA. The 10-track project, produced by Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb, marks Grimes’ most personal and fully realised musical statement to date. Fans can pre-save and pre-order the album now, and the first song from the project, ‘Love You Now‘, is available.

“Making Redbird was a cathartic experience in many ways,” says Grimes. “Sometimes the highs and lows of life are too much to express with words, so song becomes necessary. As deeply personal as it is, the themes are simple and universal: love, loss, and learning along the way.”

Recorded primarily at Georgia May Studio in Savannah and Nashville’s historic RCA Studio A, Redbird leans into classic country foundations and organic instrumentation, allowing space for Grimes’ steady baritone and emotionally direct songwriting to lead. Across the album’s ten tracks, he explores love, faith, regret, and resilience with a stripped-down clarity that favours storytelling over spectacle. The result is a record rooted in tradition yet unmistakably modern in perspective.

Grimes co-wrote much of the album and contributed acoustic guitar, percussion, and drums throughout the sessions, working alongside Cobb and collaborators including Jessie Jo Dillon, Natalie Hemby, and others. Songs like ‘Drink Drink Drink’ and ‘Haunted’ wrestle with self-doubt and reckoning, while ‘Without You’, ‘A Little More Time’, and today’s release ‘Love You Now’ reflect on commitment, loss, and the quiet strength found in staying present.

Review

Luke Grimes’ new single Love You Now is a poised introduction to his forthcoming album Redbird, delivered with understated sincerity rather than commercial flash. Produced with an emphasis on organic instrumentation under Dave Cobb, the track foregrounds Grimes’ baritone and narrative intent.

Lyrically, the song leans into a straightforward theme of presence and commitment, with lines that commit fully to a romantic focus in the moment. The structure avoids overly ornate metaphors, instead favouring clarity and emotional directness. Musically, the arrangement sits within a stripped-back country-inspired sound that prioritises acoustic textures and a relaxed tempo.

While Love You Now will not redefine the singer-songwriter canon, it signals Grimes’ continued development from his 2024 debut and frames the rest of Redbird as a personal, introspective project.
