Grammy, ACM and CMA Award winning country duo Brothers Osborne have released their fifth studio album, “Watertown”, via MCA and Snakefarm in the UK.
The 11-track record sees brothers John and TJ Osborne reconnect with their musical beginnings, drawing inspiration from their upbringing in Deale, Maryland, and the country and rock influences that have shaped their career.
Produced by longtime collaborator Jay Joyce, “Watertown” also features the duo’s first guest collaborations on a full length album, with Cody Johnson and Stephen Wilson Jr. appearing on two tracks.
Brothers Osborne return to their musical roots on Watertown
With “Watertown”, Brothers Osborne have taken inspiration from their early experiences of making music together, focusing on the storytelling, musical influences and working class upbringing that helped establish their identity.
The album reflects the rural surroundings and blue collar community of Deale, Maryland, where John and TJ Osborne grew up before establishing themselves in Nashville.
For TJ Osborne, the project represents more than a return to their hometown influences. It also reflects a desire to reconnect with the creative freedom that defined their earliest musical experiences.
“We’re not just getting back to where we were born and raised, but to the roots of where we started musically,” TJ explained.
“A time when music wasn’t dictated by anything other than what our hearts and souls wanted to say.”
The record reunites the duo with producer Jay Joyce, who has played an important role in developing their sound throughout their recording career.
Cody Johnson joins Brothers Osborne on “Born and Raised Hell”
One of the album’s most notable collaborations arrives on its opening track, “Born and Raised Hell”, featuring fellow country artist Cody Johnson.
The song marks the first time Brothers Osborne have included a guest collaboration on one of their full length studio projects.
Johnson, who holds the ACM Entertainer of the Year title, joins the brothers on a recording that reflects their shared connections to small town life and the places where they grew up.
John Osborne expressed his appreciation for Johnson’s involvement.
“Grateful to have our brother Cody Johnson join us on the tune that kicks off Watertown, ‘Born and Raised Hell,’” he said.
“Whether it’s the Chesapeake Bay or the Trinity River, we sure gave our water towns hell!”
An official music video for “Born and Raised Hell” has also been released.
Directed by Nick Swift and filmed in Nashville, the video features Brothers Osborne and Johnson performing together in a garage setting, interspersed with scenes recalling youthful adventures.
The visual adopts a vintage style that complements the song’s reflections on growing up and the experiences that shaped the artists.
Stephen Wilson Jr. features on “Tough Kid”
Alongside Cody Johnson, “Watertown” features a collaboration with singer and songwriter Stephen Wilson Jr. on the track “Tough Kid”.
Wilson Jr. has developed a reputation for blending country songwriting with alternative and rock influences, making his appearance a notable addition to the album.
His contribution also marks another first for Brothers Osborne, who have previously built their studio albums primarily around their own performances and songwriting.
The inclusion of both Johnson and Wilson Jr. introduces new voices to the duo’s fifth studio project while maintaining the musical direction associated with their established catalogue.
Brothers Osborne celebrate 10 years of Pawn Shop
The release of “Watertown” follows another important milestone for the brothers, who celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album, “Pawn Shop”, earlier in 2026.
Originally released in 2016, “Pawn Shop” helped establish Brothers Osborne within contemporary country music, introducing listeners to their combination of traditional country influences, Southern rock and blues inspired musicianship.
Their sound has continued to draw comparisons with artists ranging from Merle Haggard and Buck Owens to the Allman Brothers Band and Bob Seger.
The anniversary provides a fitting backdrop to “Watertown”, which revisits the influences and experiences that first brought John and TJ Osborne together as musicians.
Earlier this year, John Osborne also released his own signature Fender Telecaster, recognising his distinctive guitar playing and contribution to the duo’s sound.
Brothers Osborne’s GRAMMY, CMA and ACM achievements
Since releasing “Pawn Shop”, Brothers Osborne have become one of country music’s most recognised duos.
Their career achievements include one GRAMMY Award, 13 GRAMMY nominations, seven CMA Awards, seven ACM Awards and an ASCAP Vanguard Award.
They have also accumulated more than 3.4 billion global streams and achieved RIAA Platinum certification.
Their live career has included performances alongside Chris Stapleton, Eric Church, Little Big Town and Miranda Lambert, as well as their own extensive headline tours across the United States.
The brothers have regularly combined mainstream country songwriting with influences from Southern rock, blues and traditional country, developing a musical identity that distinguishes them within the genre.
