Jeremy Parsons reflects on personal journey

Texas Americana singer and songwriter Jeremy Parsons has celebrated a significant personal milestone, marking 10 years without alcohol on 6 October.

The independent artist shared a personal message with his followers reflecting on his decision to stop drinking, the changes he has experienced over the past decade and the importance of the people who have supported him.

The anniversary also connects closely with themes explored in his recent five track EP, “Life”, which examines personal growth, relationships, the passing of time and the choices that shape individual lives.

Jeremy Parsons reflects on a decade without alcohol

Parsons marked the anniversary by acknowledging how much his life has changed since making the decision to stop drinking.

“Today marks 10 years alcohol free,” Parsons wrote. “Every second of every minute of every hour of every day adds up. Days become weeks, weeks become months, and months become years. Through all of it, I think about how much further I get from that old version of me.”

The singer has been open about his relationship with alcohol, explaining that his decision to remain sober is based on his own experiences rather than a judgement of others.

“That doesn’t mean I have a problem with other people drinking,” he explained. “If you can enjoy it in moderation and stay in control, I’m happy for you. I’m an alcoholic, and that’s the way it is for me. I choose to avoid it.”

For a touring musician who regularly performs in bars, wineries, breweries and other venues where alcohol is readily available, maintaining sobriety has required a clear understanding of his personal boundaries.

Parsons explained that being around people who drink responsibly does not undermine his commitment, reflecting his belief that “Not everything is for everyone.”

His five song EP, “Life”, explores themes of identity, emotional development, relationships and mortality through tracks including “Tickin’”, “The Garden”, “Who Was I”, “Humanity” and “Life Worth Dyin’ For”.

The project examines how experiences and decisions gradually shape a person’s outlook, with Parsons drawing on his own life to explore questions of growth and change.

These themes are particularly relevant to his sobriety anniversary, which provides another perspective on the experiences that have influenced his music.

Rather than presenting personal transformation as a single defining moment, Parsons’ reflections suggest that meaningful change develops through a series of decisions made over
