Award-winning country music collective See Your Shadow are preparing to release their new single, “Weekend (Can’t Get Here Soon Enough)”, on 30 October 2026.
Led by songwriter and music director Michael Coleman, the track revisits an earlier recording from the group’s catalogue, transforming it into a country rock song centred on the anticipation of finishing work and enjoying the weekend.
The release follows the success of “Another Saturday”, which reached number one on the Independent Music Network’s Country Songs Chart.
See Your Shadow return with “Weekend (Can’t Get Here Soon Enough)”
The forthcoming single explores a familiar experience for working people, counting down the hours until Friday evening and the freedom that comes with leaving the working week behind.
With a country rock arrangement and a focus on the excitement of the weekend, the song draws on everyday experiences and the anticipation of spending time away from work.
Its opening lyrics establish the theme: “Same Friday routine / Wishing it was five o’clock instead of three.”
The song is intended to capture the shared feeling of watching the clock during the final hours of the working week, combining relatable storytelling with a more energetic musical direction.
Michael Coleman revisits a song from “A New Era”
Although “Weekend (Can’t Get Here Soon Enough)” is being released as a new single, the composition will already be familiar to some See Your Shadow listeners.
An earlier pop version appeared on the collective’s album “A New Era”, but Coleman believed the song could be developed further through a different musical approach.
The forthcoming recording reimagines the original composition as a country rock track, introducing a performance style designed to reflect the energy of a live show.
For Coleman, the decision was also an opportunity to explore a different side of See Your Shadow’s musical identity.
New recording aims to recreate live performance energy
See Your Shadow have primarily operated as a studio-based music collective, but their latest release takes inspiration from the atmosphere of a live performance.
Coleman explained that he wanted to create a recording that would give listeners an impression of how the group might sound on stage.
“I wanted to give our fans a taste of what a live show with us would sound like,” Coleman said.
“So I came up with the idea of doing a studio song that sounds like and has the energy of a live performance.”
The approach represents a change from from the song’s original pop recording, with the new version intended to bring a stronger country rock character to the composition.
Release follows number one success for “Another Saturday”
The announcement comes after See Your Shadow achieved a number one position on the Independent Music Network’s Country Songs Chart with “Another Saturday”.
That chart success added to the collective’s achievements within the independent country music scene and provides the backdrop for their latest release.
With Coleman continuing to direct the group’s songwriting and musical development, See Your Shadow are using the new single to revisit an established composition while exploring a different approach to its presentation.
“Weekend (Can’t Get Here Soon Enough)” also continues the group’s interest in accessible, everyday storytelling, focusing on experiences that many listeners will recognise.
