19-year-old rising country artist Waylon Wyatt has released his highly anticipated debut album, “Dustpiles”.
The album showcases Wyatt’s acclaimed songwriting while marking a significant creative milestone, with the 19-year-old expanding his sound through collaborations with a number of respected songwriters and producers, including Joe Becker, Tofer Brown and Anderson East.
“Dustpiles” explores love, loss and resilience
The album’s title reflects the universal search for lasting love, following a journey from heartbreak and uncertainty to finding a relationship that endures a lifetime.
Written across Nashville, Oklahoma and Arkansas, “Dustpiles” came together organically without a fixed timeline, allowing Wyatt’s songwriting to guide the project. The result is an emotionally honest collection of songs exploring heartbreak, grief and resilience with remarkable maturity.
“The Dress” leads the new album
The album’s focus track, “The Dress”, is a tender country ballad inspired by George Strait’s classic song “The Chair”.
Built around the image of an old dress gathering dust in the corner of a room, the song reflects on the passing of time and the enduring strength of true love, suggesting that while material possessions may fade, genuine relationships only grow stronger.
Waylon Wyatt showcases an evolving sound
Ahead of the album’s release, Wyatt introduced fans to several tracks that highlighted the depth and diversity of “Dustpiles”.
“Box of Bones” explores the fragility of idealised love, while “Leave It Alone” returns to the storytelling style that first earned him recognition. “But There Was a Time” reflects on the pain of a relationship that meant more to one person than the other.
Elsewhere, “Dead Man Walkin'” sees Wyatt embrace a blues and Americana-inspired sound, while “In Loving Melody”, produced by Ian Fitchuk, offers a poignant meditation on love and loss.
Waylon Wyatt continues headline tour
The album arrives as Wyatt continues his Everywhere Under The Sun Tour, performing headline shows across the United States.
Alongside his own tour dates, he has joined Sam Barber for select performances, including a return to the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre for just the second time in his career.
Wyatt is also scheduled to support Turnpike Troubadours on selected dates before making his Lollapalooza debut later this month.
Waylon said of the album: “Making this album has been quite a great time. So many amazing collaborators on it, and it was my first time working with a bunch of new producers. I’m so thankful for everyone who had a hand in this record and so glad it’s finally yours.”
